Measuring
your Walls
All of our wallpaper is priced in single roll (S/R) quantities.
However, it is shipped and manufactured in double rolls (D/R) and sometimes
triple rolls (T/R). Most double rolls are "Metric or European rolls,"
measure 20.5" wide and contain 56 square feet.
To start measuring, be sure you're using a steel tape measure (they're
much more accurate).
- Measure the entire distance around the room in feet.
- Multiply this by the height of the walls to be covered.
- This gives you the total square footage of wall area to be covered.
- The number of European single rolls required will depend upon the
pattern repeat. Always round up.
- For a pattern
repeat of 18 inches or less - Divide the result of Step 3 by
23.
- For a pattern repeat between 19 and 25 inches - Divide the result
of Step 3 by 20.
- For a random
match pattern - Divide the result of Step 3 by 28. Note that
this allows for NO pattern matching or trimming.
- You can also use our wallpaper
calculator.

Quick Tip: If you don't deduct for windows,
doors, and cabinets, you'll be sure to order enough wallpaper to complete
your room, especially if you're measuring for a repeat pattern, which requires
extra paper to match the pattern when hanging.
Run Number/ Dye Lot Number
Wallpaper is made in batches, runs, or dye lots. Each run is assigned
a number. When a new batch of colors is mixed to produce another dye lot,
a new number is issued. Because the colors may vary slightly from dye
lot to dye lot, we guarantee that each pattern will match up to the first
case (24 single rolls or 12 bolts of border). When a customer calls back
to order more double rolls with a specific run number or dye lot number,
we can request it but we cannot guarantee it. Because of this, we strongly
encourage you to order enough wallpaper the first time you order.
Border
All border is manufactured, packaged, and sold by the full bolt. Most are
priced by the bolt, but a few are priced by the yard. These must be purchsed
in 5 yard increments because they are packaged in a 5 yard bolt. Width differs
with each pattern. You may want to allow a foot or two extra to match the
pattern accurately.
Bolts come in a variety of sizes. We indicate the size of every bolt we
sell on its product detail page.
- 5 yard bolt (15 feet) - This is the most common size.
- 5.5 yard bolt (16 feet, 6 inches)
- 11 yard bolt (33 feet)
- 1 yard (3 feet) - This border is priced by the yard, but must be sold
in 5 yard increments, because it's packaged in a 5 yard bolt.
- Unit - Our border murals state they are sold by the "unit".
The length of the unit is indicated on the image and on the page. Most
are approximately 12 feet (144 inches).
Fabric
Fabric is sold only by the linear yard, in one-yard increments. It
is meant to coordinate with wallcoverings and, therefore, may not match
exactly.
Accessories
In addition to fabric, accessories such as draperies, comforters, shower
curtains, and linens are available through some wallpaper books.
Wall Liner
This smoothes out uneven/bumpy surfaces such as cement, paneling, or bricks.
The liner we sell comes from our in-house wallpaper catalog, pattern #ALL9.
It is HEAVY DUTY but it is not prepasted. It is a good underlayment for
wallcovering or paint. A double roll covers 56 square feet. Wall liner
is hung in horizontal strips unlike traditional wallpaper, which is normally
hung vertically.
